Kuan Yin

Enjoy gentleness and kindness. Experience compassion with this soap inspired by Kuan Yin, Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, who hears the cries of the world. This soap is made with brewed Kuan Yin Tea and leaves. A predominantly olive oil bar (90%), this is one of our mildest soaps. Like Kuan Yin, it is gentle, comforting, and safe. Scented with a cool, relaxing green tea and cucumber fragrance, this soap is very calming and is a beautiful gift of kindness to yourself. Hand made with olive oil, Tie Guan Yin (Kuan Yin tea) and leaves, castor oil, green tea extract, natural colorant, fragrance. Vegan. (This one is a favorite among yoga lovers.)

The tea used is this soap is a special green tea called Tie Guan Yin (Kuan Yin Tea), and it is from Anxi county in the Fujian Province of China. According to legend, there was a poor tea farmer who began tending a dilapidated temple to Kuan Yin in Anxi. He passed the temple every day on the way to his tea fields, and though he was too poor to repair it, he did sweep it and light incense as an offering to Kuan Yin. After several months, Kuan Yin appeared to him in a dream. She told him that in a cave behind the temple, he would find a treasure. The next day he visited the cave and found a single tea plant. He took cuttings and shared the tea with others who also began cultivating it. This is the tea that is in this bar of Kuan Yin soap.
